What We Do
Services offered in the office of D. Brian Williams, D.D.S.
CEREC Same Day Crowns
New and replacement crowns in one day, often the same visit
Thanks to our new CEREC technology, we can often craft new and replacement crowns in a single day, often during the same visit. These near-instant porcelain restorations are permanent, enabling us to skip the step of "temporary" crowns and repeat visits. Using 3D scanning, modeling and crafting technology, a perfectly fitting crown is created while you wait. Then the crown is permanently fitted and you're on your way - the same day! Come experience why Dr. Brian Williams, DDS, is known as Charlotte's King of Crowns. Emergency appointments available by calling the office at 704-375-6831
Low-Stress Dentistry
A Holistic Approach to Dental Anxiety
Do we offer sedation dentistry in our office? Yes. Do we think you'll need it? There's a good chance you won't. Our goal is to create a low-stress environment where you can receive exceptional dental care - care that responds to your needs and unique situation. Many of our patients who come in thinking they will need sedation find they don't it. If you need it, it's there. If you don't, you'll be on your way even faster. The skill of our providers is coupled with compassionate care, the right techniques, and a low-stress environment. This combination of environment, skill, art, and compassion enables us to deliver responsive care which lessens dental anxiety, white coat syndrome, and fear.
Cleanings and Exams
A little maintenance will save you lifetime of trouble
Whether for a child, teenager or adult, routine cleanings and exams will ensure the teeth remain healthy and as problem free as possible for a lifetime. Our staff practices gentle dentistry whenever possible to minimize the anxiety causing elements of dental visits which cause many people to avoid routine maintenance of their teeth.
Non-Invasive Digital, Full Mouth Dental X-Rays
See the whole picture, without discomfort
Our office uses the latest full mouth dental x-ray equipment, instead of taking an image of a tiny sliver of your mouth, so both we and our patients can see the whole picture - literally. Patients stand comfortably as an x-ray of their full mouth in one pass. No uncomfortable bite wings. Nothing stuck between your teeth poking the side of your cheek. No waiting. The resulting xray images are clear and more detailed too - enabling us to catch cavities and newly forming dental caries even earlier than before (usually before you can even see them with the naked eye).
Bridges
Missing a tooth between other teeth? Ask us about a bridge
Dental Bridges allow a patient to fill a gap where a tooth is missing from extraction, damage or decay. Dental bridges cost less than implants while giving the same positive aesthetic benefits. A dental bridge is deigned to hold your other teeth in place and make everyday activities such as eating and talking easier.
On-Lays and In-Lays
When a full crown isn't needed or appropriate, inlays and onlays are two methods of restoring normal tooth structure after decay or other damage. Inlays and onlays are considered indirect fillings because they are crafted as a whole piece and cemented or bonded to the surface of the tooth. Unlike standard fillings, inlays and onlays do not weaken the tooth structure. They can actually strengthen weak teeth. After the procedure is complete, the tooth can usually bear up to 50 to 75 percent more chewing force.
Simple Extractions
Sometimes a tooth just needs to go
We all know that breaking up is hard to do but sometimes you need to break up with one of your teeth. We are equipped to handle simple extractions in our office while keeping you comfortable and anxiety-free. If you have a tooth that is constant pain and not suited for a root canal or restoration, we can remove it for you in a single visit.
Root Canals
Cracked tooth? Issues with an old filling? Deep Decay?
Sometimes we need to clean out a tooth inside and stabilize it to protect your beautiful smile. This can become necessary when a tooth is injured, a previous cavity/filling needs revision or if deep decay makes a normal filling not possible. We handle simple root canals in our office and work with several local endodontists for complex cases. A root canal may be combined with a crown in order to preserve the functionality and cosmetic appearance of a tooth.
Implants
When a filling, crown or root canal isn't enough to restore a tooth
There are times when we're unable to save an existing tooth. This can happen when a tooth sustains severe injury or when decay or damage prevents traditional restoration. We provide in-office placement of non-complicated implants and work with several endodontists and oral surgeons for complex implants. Give our office to schedule a consultation where we can determine if an implant is right for you and how we can best safely and comfortably provide the placement. Implants are permanent replacements for teeth and become part of the working mechanics of the jaw during the healing process. This protects the surrounding teeth from movement or becoming misaligned.
Implant Restorations
Restoring restorations back to better than new condition
If you have had a tooth extracted, knocked out, or damaged, the gold standard in today's dental restorations is an artificial tooth, also known as a dental implant. With an implant, a custom crafted artificial tooth is created to exactly replace a lost tooth. While the artificial tooth root generally lasts a lifetime, the implant "crowns" are often chipped, cracked, damaged or worn over the years and in need replacement. Our office is exceptionally good at reworking existing implants to improve the cosmetic appeal, external stability and function of a previously implanted tooth.`
Partial and Full Dentures
A complete or partial restoration of your smile
There are two main types of dentures: full and partial. We will help you choose the type of denture that's best for you based on whether some or all of your teeth are going to be replaced and the cost involved. Dentures are custom-made in a dental laboratory from impressions taken of your mouth. Today's dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever.
Teeth Whitening Services
A brighter, whiter smile awaits your next visit!
It's a request we hear from almost every patient: "Can you make my teeth whiter?" And the answer is almost always: YES we can! We will carefully examine your teeth to make sure they can be safely whitened and review the whitening options available to achieve your desired outcome. Our whitening approach favors natural looking teeth versus fake looking chiclets.
Tooth Colored Fillings
Not the same old "fillings" you had as a kid!
Remember that mouth full of metal look of old-fashioned fillings? It doesn't have to be that way anymore. Tooth colored fillings, also called cosmetic fillings and composite fillings, are dental fillings which restore and mimic the natural appearance of your tooth while repairing the tooth. Tooth colored fillings are often used to restore teeth that have fractured or decayed but in many cases can also be used cosmetically to change the size, color and shape of teeth.
Periodontal Care
Just say no to gum disease!
When we don’t take care of the germ buildup in our mouths, it can become harmful. This germ buildup can lead to gingivitis or even progress to periodontal disease. The difference between gingivitis and periodontal disease is in the loss of bone and gum tissue. This disease is due to a bacterial infection and inflammation. Periodontal disease can cause tooth loss and can destroy the gums and jawbone. You can prevent these things from happening by beginning a periodontal care plan with us. Our goal is to restore your gums to healthy functioning and prevent further damage. If damage has already occurred, we will talk with you about restoration options.
